Tablature Vs. Standard Notation

September 24, 2015 by Mike Christiansen 1 Comment

In classroom guitar it’s important to understand the benefits of tablature and how to use it in your guitar curriculum as a tool to transition to standard notation.  Some of the great benefits of tablature include learning rhythmic values, get comfortable with notes in a given position, play songs in an alternate tuning and more.

And by the way, did you know that guitar music was originally written using tab? In this week’s post Mike Christiansen discusses many of these benefits and why it’s important to implement tablature into your guitar curriculum.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to make the informative and helpful video and post. I have just started to learn how to play guitar and this helps a lot in understanding and reading Tablature and Standard Notation. Keep up the good work!
