OUR PHILOSOPHY
The CMI classroom guitar and classroom ukulele music education system is a new approach to music education. The foundation of which is a blended learning model that merges the best music education pedagogy, our proprietary classroom guitar curriculum, and distance learning technology.
Unlike customary classroom education programs that focus on band, orchestra, and chorus, CMI embraces non-traditional instruments and distributive technology to infuse the widest possible audience of teachers, students, and parents with a passion for playing music individually and in groups. Our classroom guitar curriculum and classroom ukulele curriculum integrates professional development to empower music educators to continually master the latest concepts and methods in the teaching of music.
CMI’s classroom guitar curriculum is developed under the supervision of Michael Christiansen, a Master Teacher, a gifted musician, perhaps the world’s foremost expert in classroom guitar pedagogy, and the author of over 40 best-selling guitar instruction books.
This unique system is a powerful combination of time-tested classroom guitar instruction and interactive, distance-learning technology. The result is an exciting, engaging, hands-on approach to teaching and learning guitar, employing a contemporary repertoire that inspires teachers and students to learn through examples, practice, and feedback.
Just as important, CMI’s customizable, differentiated education feature enables teachers to achieve consistent success in a class full of students at varying skill levels. Finally, the CMI program gives every classroom guitar teacher the skills and confidence to produce successful learning outcomes, even though they themselves might not yet be proficient on the instrument they are teaching.
